February 2005 Featured Ride:
Congratulations: 347gtvert (Vince Saracino)

After that, my dad moved on and became a manager of Faulkner Ford. And this is
where it starts.
I watched mustangs come in day after day, people buying and trading them in, I
would always talk to people and try and help my dad get a sale so I can go for
a test drive. Around this time, the new style 99 was the car to have, but
seeing the price tag, deterred me from getting one. A few years down the road,
this car, my 93, came onto the lot as a trade. I was now 16, and knew this was
the car for me. The car was completely stock, right down to the air silencer.
My ideas were limited only because my knowledge for these cars was too. My
first modification was exhaust; I didn’t have a lot of money so I was limited
on mods. I became overly interested in mustangs, and began to work to have the
ability to build the car I always wanted.
My first idea was to keep the motor, put heads, cam, intake and a blower the
car and call it a day. But why would I do that and then a year down the road
build a short block and take the entire motor apart again. So I waited and
waited and waited. I was buying parts for over a year.
My first motor was built on a budget. It was a stock block, all forged
internals, etc. I got into racing the car shortly after that, and met a lot of
people. My ideas changed, and I wanted to go faster. A few weeks down the
road, I was stopped at a stop light and some person backed into me instead of
going forward. Hello Supercharger!
I never had the car tuned, and was running only 30# injectors. I was new at
this and I was the first of my friends to own a highly modified car. So, we,
being the crazy racing kids, turned up the boost and two weeks later, Bye Bye
motor. Too much detonation on the pistons caused oil blow by and I had a huge
problem on my hands.
I sent the car back in the shop. This time I would do it right and now I have
some experience and guidance from others. This is where I am at now.
The car boasts a 347 stroker based on a sportsman block. Internals consist of
scat steel crank, forged crowler rods, and je blower pistons. A girdle resides
up top for added safety. My previous set up had Holley system max heads, a
lunatic cam and Holley upper and lower. Being on a budget, they were all put
back on. Car makes 449rwhp and 539 rwtq w/ 7psi. Since then, I put in a
dynamic c4 w/ a better converter, and a better t-rex pump. More fuel and boost
is on the way. The car is capable of making 550rwhp and 600+ rwtq (safely).
The car is tuned for a safe mode. I drive it everyday, even in snow. I’ve had
my fair share of issues and finally have a good setup and a reliable street
racer. My future plans consist of more suspension upgrades, bigger injectors
and a smaller pulley. A cage would be nice too!
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to tell you all a little bit about me and
my car. Thanks to svtsnake for this chance and all the help I have received on
the way. Thanks to the members here for their advice! And a special thanks to
all my friends!
Vince
