September 2005 Featured Ride:

Congratulations: A.J.

This may sound strange, but I was not always a Blue Oval fan. Let me expalin, I started my addiction to fast cars with Bowties (IE '86 Camaro Iroc, '87 5.7 Iroc and a '90 5.7 Iroc). Unfortunatley for Chevy, one night in 1990, I was involved in an accident which ended my Camaro career. I was now looking for a replacement. My Friend Ed, (TryThis1) , had just purchased a '90 black 5.0 5 speed Notchback and said this is the way to go. So, I went to McCarville Ford and purchased my first Mustang. It was a white GT 5.0 5 speed. now the Mods began. I started with the typical Bolt ons - ie. gears, shifter, and flowmasters. The car was quick but not fast enough. I then added a blower, heads cams, etc....
The car ultimatley evolved into an 8 sec. full blown race car, prepared by LaRocca's Performance.

I accomplished a lot with this car. It started to get noticed by the racing fraternity and by the media . My ride appeared in the Oct. '96 issue of Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords on pages 123 and 140. Also, 5.0 Mustang (now 5.0 & Super Fords) in Oct. '98 on page 105. I also won numerous big events - The '96 Grand National vs. Mustang Shootout at ETown, the '96 and '97 Stormin Norman Shootout (which were held at the Motorsport Nationals that is now NMRA). Also I won many a Mustang Shootout held on Friday nights at E-town. I was also entered in numerous car shows and was a consistent winner.

I laid low for a while. You guys know what that means (I got married and started a family). However, the itch never left. I purchased an '89 Blue Notch and kept it mostly stock, except for gears and exhaust (the car ran 12.70's @ 107). Now, with a family I wanted a house so unfortunatley the Notch had to go.

This now brings us to the present. The itch for a fast Mustang was still present and needed to be satisfied. I was going to buy a white Mach 1 at Sayville Ford but was drawn to the Competition Orange '04 Cobra that was on their front line. I purchased the Cobra and the rest as they say is history. I was now looking for a reputable performance shop to work on my Cobra. I met Jimmy Vacccaro at O.B.I. one Sunday last fall and he told me to see Joe at Mustang Magic. They took my ordinary Cobra and turned it into a lethal snake. The car has a 2.80 pulley, a 2lb lower, ported eaton, Steeda C.A.I., Mac Prochamber and Mac cat back exhaust, a tune by joey and makes 505 hp and 510 ft lbs of tq. At the SvtSnake.com track rental in April of '05 the car went 11.50 @ 121, on a soft pass, so there is plenty more bite in this Cobra. The Cobra has also been entered in numerous car shows and has been a consistant winner. I also bring the car to the local hangouts, i.e O.B.I., Nathans, and Bellmore.

At this time I would like to thank my Dad for being there through all the experiences, both good and bad for all these years, because without him none of this would be any fun! My wife, for putting up with my car habit. Joe at Mustang Magic for his honesty and integrity in making my stang what it is. To Ed Velardi (Trythis1) for being a great friend for all these years, and mustang fanatic too! I love to drive my Cobra every chance I get and I Hope to see you guys at the next meet! A.J.
