April 2007 Featured Ride:
Congratulations: NYMUSTANG4LIFE "Andrew"

My love for cars, especially mustangs
began at a very young age. My father owned a 1975 Mustang when I was born.
Unfortunately two car seats in the back didn't leave room for much else, so it
had to go. Even though I don't remember much about the car, there were plenty
pictures of it to remind me. This is how my sickness began (in mustangs that
is).
After I turned 18, it was time to step up from public transportation to my own
set of wheels. At the time I was going to Auto School and working a part time
job at a supermarket. My budget was real tight, so I picked up a '91 T-Bird LX
for only $700. It was in very good condition but had a lot of miles. I didn't do
much to it, just a pretty sick sound system in the trunk and dual exhaust with
flowmaster mufflers. A few months later, it was time for a change. Ever since I
started working when I was 16, all my money went into the bank. So I figured it
was time to treat myself to something nicer.
I found a Midnight Blue '90 GT 5spd out in Long Island. I never drove stick
before so the drive home was pretty embarrassing. I spent the next week and many
gas tanks later practicing. Mods included: MAC LT's, MAC catted x-pipe,
flowmasters, 3.73's, underdrive pulley's, 190lph holley pump, hurst shifter, and
a cervinis stalker front bumper. I babied that car, never took it to the track,
and rarely ran hard. I loved that car, and can see myself owning another fox in
the future.
That brings me to my current ride. In January of 06 I landed a decent paying
job, so this changed everything. I started crunching numbers to see what I could
afford. The two choices were a used 03/04 Cobra or a new 05/06 GT since both
were around the same price. The factory supercharged/built motor of a cobra out
beat the retro looks and 3 year warranty of a new GT. In late February 06, I
found a completely stock sonic blue cobra with only 14,000 miles out in
pennsylvania that I couldn't pass up. The power the cobra had put a smile on my
face for weeks. But I couldn't keep it stock forever. So off to Mustang Magic I
went. They installed a MAC catback and a month later a 3.0 upper pulley, MAC O/R
prochamber, and a custom dyno tune courtesy of "Joey Da Tuner". This netted me
461rwhp and 447rwtq on a 90 deg day. I've been happy with these results only
until this year. After a long talk with Dom at a SVTSnake meet, he convinced me
to go with the 2.3L Whipple. I just started to get the ball rolling with this
current project so new dyno numbers and ET slips will be coming soon.
I would like to thank Dominick, Jimmy V, the SVTSnake staff, and every member of
the site that makes this the best site on the internet. I've made many great
friendships and hope to make many more. Thanks again!!!
