April 2005 Featured Ride:
Congratulations: BLWN03 (Jason Teixeira)

We all have our own stories of how we came to be car nut's,in
my case i became a car nut at the age of 16 year's old.
My infatuation with the Ford Mustang started when my cousin Nate brought his
shiny new 91 White convertible GT to my house and took me for my first ride in a
STANG,This is when the love affair started. Soon there after i started to save
like a fool after speaking with my parent's about buying my neighbor's mint 86
GT...which i purchased a year later for $4,600.00,i was in heaven.
I started with all the basic stuff..pulley's, exhaust, shifter etc. But then the
REAL bug hit me...RACING. I went out in late 93 to a local hangout where the
street racer's would run,and after a few night's of spectating i realized it was
time to upgrade from my now tired 86 GT. I then bought a slew of Foxbody's
between 93-2000,but non of them were ever any competition for the street racer's
in my area.
In 2000 I went from a Fox body 5.0 guy to a SN95- Modular guy with the addition
of my 97 Triple Black SVT Cobra.Soon there after i met and started a lifelong
friendship with my buddy Rob Ranucci. Now Rob had a nice little 91 LX with a 306
and Lot's of spray that went 10.20's @ 128, so now being a part of his crew i
had to step up my game 100%. This started my foray into the forced induction
world.
In Early summer of 2001 i bought a Pro-Charger P1-SC kit from Larocca's for the
Cobra and with Jimmy Larocca doing the tuning we got 414 rwhp and 361rwtq on
10psi of boost, With a best of 11.92 @ 115 being the best 1/4 mile ET with that
HP configuration and all the other bolt on's. In late 2002 i upgraded the P1 to
a D1 and made 514 rwhp and 381 rwtq all with 10psi on a totally stock bottom
end...best et was a 11.60 @ 118 with the 28" tall slick's...we never got around
to trying out the 26" slick because in early 2003 i sold my beloved 97 Cobra for
the Falgship of Ford's performance car's..The 2003 SVT Cobra..A.K.A
"TERMINATOR".
I first saw the Terminator at Maple Grove in late 2002 when Evan smith was
testing it out at some local NMRA meet's. I was there with my buddies SSO team
to help out. I was smitten with the SONIC blue paint sceme and the sheer look of
the Terminator. That set into motion the love and sheer want of having a
terminator of my own.
Once i sold my 97 Cobra i saved a few extra month's so as soon as i got the car
i could mod to my hearts content. I had a Magnaflow exhaust, UPR x-pipe and UPR
CAI waiting for the car to come home. I found my car actually on E-Bay of all
places at a dealership in Columbus Ohio,Germain Ford. I placed a call and the
wheels were literally set into motion. I took delivery of my car on June 28th
2003..and of course my great friend and also now boost addicted friend Rob
Ranucci came along for the road trip.
All i remember of that day is the sheer joy of owning my first Brand new car,not
the 8hr drive and no sleep for over 24 hr's...just happiness.
When we returned back to Connecticut from Ohio, my parent's were stunned at the
color...my parents are by no means car people but just like everyone else that
saw the car ,they were just like "WOW".
So goes the Modification's not even 24hr's after getting here home... The full
exhaust was installed By myself and my friend Jay Sabo, What a sound the
magnaflow's gave to my car,and the UPR CAI made the blower howl like crazy..In
this trim the car made 414 rwhp & 381 rwtq. In August i went to Larocca's again
in Old Bridge N.J. for a tune and My pulley swap, with the 2.76 upper installed
and tune i made 455 rwhp & 496 rwtq..with a best of 11.69 @122mph with me
driving on Drag radials..My good friend John Prichett drove the car the same day
and went 11.44 @ 122.95 MPH. To say i was happy is a understatement. My 97
couldn't run a 11 second pass on a drag radial, but with the sheer brute TQ down
low with the Eaton supercharger is get's going in a hurry.
From late 2003 to now i have experimented with many setup's and have finally
settled on a Ported Eaton done by Steigmier and a nice little shot of Nitrous to
give it that extra little kick...In my current trim i make 504 rwhp & 496 rwtq
..no nitrous, thanks to a Mustang Magic dyno tune. they will also be doing the
tuning on the car once the spray kit is finished.
It's been a long journey over the past 11 year's but i wouldn't trade the
frindship's ive forged with fellow enthusiast's and the knowledge i have gained
from Mustang Community as a whole.
I would like to thank the following for either just being there when i had
problem's or just a regular old dumb question....Jim Vaccarro,John Prichett,Rob
Ranucci,Big Joe@ Mustang Magic,Joe Lazurdo The tuner@ Mustang Magic,Scott
Mallot(Sambandit). And of course all the great people of WWW.SVTSnake.com
Regards,
Jason "BLWN03" Teixeira
