p.s. you absolutely HAVE to use the clutch no matter how you shift the car.

I spent the weekend learing (and unlearning) how to do it.

My problem is I want to speed shift and lift off of the gas.

Any tips?

By the way, the cool part was that I was learning on a 1967 Chevelle with a 4speed!

My friend who was teaching me is one of the best power shifters I have ever seen!

I think you want a semi-power shift. You stay on the throttle but you try to lift to about 50% as you shift. Not quite as violent but not quite as effective. Maybe that will help.

BTW, nice of your friend to let you work out the kinks in his car!
