Race Built 4.3L V6 Motor Swap
Jerome gives us an in depth and extensive review on his twin turbo V6 monster build.
Build: 2000 Roush Custom Vert.
Built RPM 262ci 4.3L, TMA Twin Turbo kit, Twin Garrett T3 Super 60 Trim
What an experience it was! Order was first placed in December of 2005 for a
built short-block, the short-block
was completed in mid February 2006, I changed the order after my motor
went from a shortblock to a fully built Long-block including ported intake.
It took over 8 months to develop/test the first EVER custom Big valve CNC v6
heads..
When the idea first came about for custom BV heads I was told it would take
two months to make lmao..
Here is a vid. of the world first known BV v6 CNC heads..

Motor Shipped from RPM on 10/23/06

I picked up the motor myself on 10/27 in a minivan:

John the Ford guy (aka Falcon69) came over on 10/28 and
helped me pull the motor out of the Van,
I took off my front bumper, wheel and jacked up the car before he came over.

We pulled my stock motor out on 10/29:

Some pics of my New RPM 4.3L motor ..
I was under the impression it was a fully complete motor ready to swap.

John the Ford guy (aka Falcon69) came over 11/02/06 ready
to drop in the
new motor, he asked if anything needs to be done before the swap, I told
him No, don't touch a thing its 100% ready to drop in, so off he went to
work dropping the motor in, connecting the tranny and other stuff etc.. etc..
* First install the new motor 11/2/06

So on 11/03/06 Mike@RPM called me up and asked if I weld-in my
oil
drain fittings, I said No, I am just going to screw in the fittings all
I need to know is what size hole you made? He replied so did you
put in the rear pan seal, and RTV the pan ... I said No what is that?
Mis-understanding based on weather, I was going to coat the pan,
because I was under the impression the oil pan was going to come
with –10an fittings all welded in .. instead it came with two unknown size
holes,
the only thing we talked about was coating the pan before the motor was shipped
NOT drain fittings..
11/05/06 John the Ford guy (aka Falcon69) came over and pulled the
RPM motor out, after John pulled out the motor we also discovered the
driver-side
tap was not in the correct place, so the pan was no good anyways.
* Pulled the new motor out 11/5 (needs missing parts) big mis-understanding..
Mike@RPM paid me back in full for the labor, oil pan and rear seal, Mike is a
GREAT person
to deal with, he stands by his product and financially supports his customers,
even if its mis-communication, thanks once again Mike.

So I got me a new oil pan, rear seal and some rtv.

Went to MIP locally and got two -10an fitting welded-in in
the correct
spot for a TT kit.

John looking at all the junk in my garage..

Time to put the new motor back in...
* installed the new complete motor 11/14/06

All in a good days work, motor is back in
(11/14/06)..sweet... Thanks John..

So time for me to put on the upper and other basic stuff..

11/21/06 John the Ford guy (aka Falcon69) came over help
out with basic
stuff and got the car ready to start up..

So that night 11/21/06 we had a small issue, one of the RR was
hitting
the passenger-side cover, I was told by Mike before I may need to use
BBK covers as it will clear the RR's, so we call it a night and the very next
day, I got help from Gary aka GT-EATER to obtain some new BBK valve covers,
Thanks Bro..
New BBK came in ..
* got new covers 11/29 Thanks Gary ..

12/1/2006 time to install the new BBK covers and have some
fun,
So after I remove the passenger-side valve cover, look what I found..
* found RR issue 12/1

You can see where the RR was hitting the cover, it turns
out that the stock
nuts SUCK!! the nut holding down the RR back-out and the RR started hitting
the cover.. time for better nuts!!

12/2/2006 I went to MIP again to get -8an fitting and other
mod. done to my new
BBK covers..

12/6/2006 I got two sets of Nuts from Mike@RPM one set or ARP
1.25" and the other
Comp. 1"
* Got two sets of Nuts to fix RR issues from Mike 12/6 (Thanks)

12/9/2006 Time to test out the new NUTs .. as you can see
the ARP nuts
are very tall and the set-screw sit way down in the nuts sucks!! and
the ARP 1.25" nuts does NOT clean the stock valve covers.

12/9/2006 now for the Comp. nut testing .. as you can see
the set-screw sits much
better, so I went with the 1" Comp. nuts.. also note the 1" Comp. nuts
cleans the stock valve cover..

12/10/2006 Time to install my new BBK covers ..
* install all Comp. stuff (RR/Nuts) with BBK Valve covers and put upper back on
12/10

12/11/06 all 100% complete - Time to start her up again
* Start her up again 12/11, and took her for a little spin as well..

12/19/2006 Some pics from this morning and video :word:

BIG!! Thanks once again to John the Ford guy
(aka Falcon69)
